Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tripod supper table is an 18th-century functional piece of furniture featuring a circular top supported by a central turned column and three out-curved legs. Originally designed for light meals or tea service, many examples feature a tilting mechanism to allow the table to be stored flat against a wall.

These tables were predominantly crafted from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its stability, deep grain, and resistance to warping. The construction utilised hand-cut dovetails, mortise and tenon joints, and turned pedestal components without modern adhesives.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-saw marks on the underside of the top, original iron or brass tilt-latch mechanisms, and irregular hand-carved pad or claw feet. The dark patina on the turned column and evidence of shrinkage along wood grain lines also indicate age.

Position a tripod table beside a contemporary sofa or modern armchair as an occasional drink table. Its compact footprint and dark timber finish provide warmth and structural contrast within minimalist or transitional living spaces.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from drying out or fading.
