Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Regency period, spanning roughly 1811 to 1830, is defined by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architectural influences. Furniture from this era features clean proportions, swept legs, painted decoration, gilt accents, and rich timber veneers such as satinwood and rosewood.

Regency library chairs were typically crafted using dense hardwoods like mahogany, satinwood, or painted beech. Upholstery favoured natural fillings like horsehair over webbed seats, covered in damask, silk, or leather, and finished with solid brass castors.

Authentic Regency armchairs feature hand-cut joinery, traditional mortise and tenon joints, original brass fittings, and hand-painted or inlaid polychrome motifs. Frames show subtle signs of natural timber shrinkage and age-appropriate patination.

Position the armchair as a statement focal point in a contemporary study, reading nook, or living room. Pairing classical Regency timber work with minimalist backdrop walls or modern abstract art creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Keep the chair away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood shrinkage and fabric fading. Clean timber frames with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical polishes on painted detailing, and vacuum fabric gently with a soft brush attachment.
