Description

An 8 day loncase striking hours on a bell. The clock has a painted breakarch dial and a pearwood case measuring 85"(2160mm) in maximum height.

George Yaxley West was something of an institution in Docking, Norfolk. In addition to making clocks he was the postmaster and the landlord of The Plough Inn. An interesting point about this clock is the fact that West does not appear on the dial and close examination suggests that it has never been there with just George Yaxley Docking present. This looks like an original error on the part of the dialmaker.

Although the case of this clock is simple the lines are pleasing and it has a good colour. It is small enough to adorn a modern home and become a treasured heirloom.
