Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gothic Revival furniture from the mid-19th century draws inspiration from medieval architectural motifs, such as pointed arches, carved tracery, pediments, and robust wooden construction. The style reflected a return to historical craftsmanship, often featuring heavy oak timber and detailed carved relief work.

These substantial chairs were predominantly crafted from solid oak, walnut, or mahogany, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Seats were commonly upholstered in heavy textiles, leather, or velvet, set within a solid timber frame.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved decorative elements with slight natural variations, traditional joinery techniques, and age-appropriate wear along contact surfaces. The reverse side typically shows hand-planed wood or original rough-sawn finish rather than modern machine smoothing.

A high-backed carved chair functions as a focal piece in an entryway, library, or hallway. Positioning it against a neutral wall paired with contemporary lighting creates an effective visual balance between historical architecture and modern decor.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish annually to preserve the wood finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent cracking or timber warping.
