Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a compact occasional table introduced in the 18th century, characterised by two drop flaps supported by hinged wooden brackets called fly-rails. Designed for versatility, these tables were originally used for tea, writing, or bedside serving.

Georgian Pembroke tables were primarily constructed from solid mahogany or satinwood, often featuring secondary internal timbers such as oak or pine for drawer linings. Secondary hardware was typically cast from brass, including drop handles and brass casters.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, hand-planed timber undersides, and subtle irregularities from period hand tools. Hinges, rule joints on the drop flaps, and original drawer linings should show age-appropriate wear and oxidisation.

Position the table beside a sofa or reading chair as a functional side table, using the drop leaves to expand surface area when needed. The deep wood tones contrast effectively against neutral walls, contemporary lamps, and modern ceramics.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber patina. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood movement, cracking, or finish damage.
