Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III tea table is a specialised item of British furniture produced during the reign of King George III, roughly between 1760 and 1820. Designed primarily for serving tea, these tables frequently feature a demilune or rectangular fold-over top supported by a gate-leg or swing-leg mechanism.

Georgian cabinetmakers predominantly used high-grade mahogany imported from the West Indies, valued for its dense grain and durability. Secondary timbers such as pine or oak were used for internal framework, often finished with decorative flame mahogany veneers and satinwood string inlay.

Authentic 18th-century examples typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints, brass butt hinges set flush into the fold-over top, and hand-planed timber surfaces underneath. Original patination and uneven wear around the legs and feet also indicate correct period origin.

When kept folded, a demilune tea table functions as a hallway console or side table beneath a wall mirror or artwork. In modern spaces, pairing the rich mahogany timber with neutral walls and subtle brass lighting highlights its historic silhouette.

To preserve the timber finish, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer fading.
