Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III demi-lune tea table is a semi-circular fold-over table produced in Britain during the reign of King George III (17601820). Designed to sit flush against a wall when closed, the top opens to form a full circle supported by a gate-leg or fly-leg mechanism for serving tea or playing cards.

These tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, often decorated with satinwood, boxwood, or rosewood crossbanding and stringing. Secondary woods used for inner framing usually included pine or oak, joined with hand-cut dovetails and brass stop-hinges.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn secondary timber, irregular hand-cut dovetails, and age-related shrinking or slight warping along the veneered surfaces. Original brass hinges and gate-leg pivots should show natural oxidisation, and the polish should display historic patina rather than a modern uniform gloss.

Position the closed table against a hallway or living room wall to serve as a console, paired with a framed mirror or artwork above it. The table can be moved to the centre of a room and opened full-width when additional table surface is required for entertaining.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent cracking and fading. Clean the surface by dusting with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the historic finish.
