Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A demi-lune table is a semi-circular piece of accent furniture that originated in France during the 18th century before becoming widely popular across Europe during the Georgian era. Designed to sit flush against a wall, these tables were traditionally placed in entryways, corridors, or dining rooms.

Primary woods typically included high-grade mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, often complemented by solid oak or pine drawer linings as secondary timbers. Original period brassware, such as cast batwing handles or drop pulls, provided functional ornamentation.

Authentic 18th-century examples often feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, hand-planed underside surfaces, and period-correct leg forms such as pad feet or spade feet. Natural signs of age, such as wood shrinkage along the grain and authentic patination on hardware, also indicate origin.

Position the table against a hallway wall or behind a sofa, anchoring it visually with a wall-mounted mirror or framed art directly above. Style the tabletop with a contemporary table lamp, a ceramic vessel, or a small stack of books to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year along the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high-humidity areas to prevent wood warping, veneer lifting, or finish fading.
