Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late Edwardian and early George V eras, advancements in silver manufacturing and photography led to a surge in silver photograph frame production. Frames from this period often featured understated classicism, clean geometric outlines, and beaded or reeded decorative rims.

These frames were typically crafted by pressing a thin sheet of sterling silver over a wooden or composition core, lined with velvet or leather backing, and secured with metal tabs or easel supports.

Authentic British silver frames carry official assay hallmarks stamped into the metal surface, including the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office symbol such as the Sheffield crown, a makers mark, and a date letter.

Position the frame on a desk, mantelpiece, or sideboard grouped alongside contrasting modern black-and-white prints or dark timber objects to highlight the metallic sheen.

Gently dust the frame with a microfiber cloth and polish sparingly using a specialized silver cloth to prevent build-up of oxidisation, keeping liquid cleaners away from the velvet backing and glass seal.
