Superb George II Oak 12 Seat Refectory Table

Description

A superb George II period oak planked top 12 seat refectory table with turned bulbous cup and cover legs and H base stretcher c.1730. The five board plank top with cleated ends overlapping the base to allow seating at each end. The table surface sat on a moulded edge top rail, repeated to all four sides and carved corbels at the ends. Bulbous turned and carved 'cup & cover' legs set to each corner, which are supported by an H base stretcher. The table seats with ease 5 people to each side and 1 at each end, and with ample knee room. Wonderful rich colour and patina throughout, presented in excellent original condition, very sturdy and usable. Knee clearance of 24" at the sides and 27.25" at each end.
