Antique Mahogany Serpentine Chest on Chest

1900 - 1920
Description

An elegant mahogany serpentine chest on chest of exceptional quality, retaining a wonderfully rich colour and finely figured mahogany throughout. The upper section comprises four graduating drawers over a brushing slide, with a further three long graduated drawers below, all fitted with original brass swan neck handles. The chest is beautifully detailed with a pierced fretwork gallery, carved blind fret moulding, decorative canted corners and stands on elegant shaped bracket feet. The brushing slide is lined in green baize, making it ideal as a writing or dressing surface.

A superb example with excellent proportions, outstanding craftsmanship and generous storage, presented in remarkably well-preserved condition.
