Christofle

is a manufacturer of fine silver flatware and home accessories based in France. It was founded in 1830 when jeweler Charles Christofle assumed management of a jewelry workshop belonging to his wife's family. Among Christofle's product lines are silver picture frames, crystal vases and glassware, porcelain dinnerware, and silver jewelry and holloware.

Artists and designers such as the Parisian silversmith Antoine Perrin, Man Ray, Jean Cocteau, Gio Ponti, Andree Putman, Martin Szekely, Ito Morabito (Ora-Ito), Xiao Hui Wang, and Richard Hutten are among those whose creations have been made by Christofle.  In 1951, the Christofle company agreed with Ernest Cardeilhac to purchase the Cardeilhac tools and patterns. During the First Empire, Antoine Cardeilhac was a well-known silversmith in Paris. Christofle remains under the control and ownership of the Christofle family, the current generation being represented by Maurizio Borletti. Christofle was publicly traded until 1998, when Borletti and others took the firm private.

Christofle manufactures its products in France and Brazil, and they are sold worldwide through 75 Pavillon Christofle retail stores and 400 department stores and specialty shops.

Christofle Gallia Collection

Created at the turn of the 20th century, at the time of the famous 1900 Paris Exposition, it takes its name from a tin alloy of enormous importance in its time.

With its name harkening back to "Gaul" and the Gallic rooster as its mark and symbol, Gallia metal put the spotlight on French innovation once more.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco barware produced during the 1920s and 1930s is defined by streamlined geometric shapes, polished metallic finishes, and understated horizontal or vertical reeded decoration.

Vintage champagne coolers are typically constructed from base metals such as brass, copper, or nickel silver, which are then electroplated with a layer of pure silver.

Authentic Christofle silver plate carries specific makers marks and hallmarks stamped into the metal, usually depicting the manufacturer name alongside balance or scales iconography.

A silver champagne cooler functions as a decorative focal point on a dining room sideboard, a drinks trolley, or a kitchen island when entertaining guests.

Silver-plated items should be polished gently with a specialized silver cloth and mild polish, avoiding abrasive pads or prolonged submersion in water to prevent wear to the silver layer.
