Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced roughly between 1901 and 1914, Edwardian mantel clocks often feature Neoclassical revival elements, such as ebonised columns, carved friezes, and rich wood veneers like burr walnut or mahogany framing a central brass dial bezel.

These clocks commonly utilise hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, accented with figured veneers like burr walnut. External components often feature ebonised wood details, cast brass bezels, convex glass crystals, and brass feet.

Authentic pieces generally display the makers name on the dial face, such as Walker & Hall Ltd.. Additionally, movements are frequently stamped with French or British horological marks, and cabinet construction exhibits traditional joinery with veneer overlay.

Position the timepiece prominently on a living room mantelpiece, a dark wood bookcase, or an entry console table. Pair it with architectural drawings, contemporary ceramics, or brass candlesticks to create balance between historical and modern elements.

Keep the casing dust-free using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid placing the item near direct heat sources or damp environments. Mechanical movements require periodic professional servicing and gentle winding with the correct key size.
