A Handsome 19thc Mahogany Cheval Mirror

A handsome and elegant 19th-century mahogany cheval mirror, crafted in the Regency taste and displaying beautifully figured flame mahogany throughout. The rectangular adjustable mirror plate is enclosed within a finely moulded frame and supported by a pair of turned and tapering uprights, each surmounted by distinctive gadrooned urn finials, lending the piece a refined architectural presence.

The mirror is retained by its original turned brass adjustment knobs, allowing the plate to be angled as required. Raised on an attractive base with four elegant recessed cabriole legs, united by turned stretchers and terminating in the original brass cup castors, the design is both graceful and practical.

The rich mahogany has acquired a warm, mellow patina developed over many years, highlighting the quality of the timber and craftsmanship. The combination of clean Regency-inspired lines, restrained ornamentation and superb proportions makes this an exceptionally versatile piece, equally suited to a bedroom, dressing room or reception room.
