Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III Hepplewhite furniture, popularised in the late 18th century by cabinetmaker George Hepplewhite, is characterised by light proportions, shield-back seating frames, and delicate carved detail such as wheat sheaves, urns, or decorative splats.

Authentic late 18th-century chairs were predominantly constructed from dense mahogany timber, featuring hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, corner blocks for frame reinforcement, and hand-carved back splats.

Genuine period pieces feature subtle hand-planing marks, natural timber shrinkage along frame joints, hand-carved details with minor structural variances, and period-appropriate joinery rather than modern uniform fasteners.

These classical chairs integrate well with modern dining tables, serve as accent seating in a study or hallway, or work alongside neutral upholstery textures to bridge traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish annually, while keeping pieces away from direct heat sources and excessive sunlight to preserve the finish.
