Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Heriz rugs originate from the Heris region in northwestern Iran, near Mount Sabalan. Woven predominantly by village artisans, these rugs became famous during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries for their distinctive geometric interpretations of traditional floral Persian patterns.

Traditional Heriz carpets are hand-knotted using coarse wool pile spun onto a heavy cotton warp and weft foundation. The wool is historically dyed using natural plant and mineral sources, producing deep terracottas, indigos, and soft ochres.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted construction visible on the underside, slight variations in weave uniformity, and subtle colour variations known as abrash. Unlike curvilinear city carpets, Heriz designs feature stylized, angular geometric medallions and bold rectilinear borders.

A geometric Heriz rug acts as a grounding anchor in both contemporary and classic schemes. Position it beneath modern neutral seating to add visual warmth and texture, or layer it over plain natural fibre mats for an eclectic look.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotary beater bar to protect the pile fibers. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth, rotate the rug annually to ensure even wear, and seek specialist cleaning when required.
