Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 19th century, a Regency tripod tea table features a circular surface supported by a central turned column and three splayed legs. Often designed with a revolving or tilt-top mechanism, these tables served both functional and social roles in formal reception rooms.

Craftspeople predominantly used solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, valued for fine grain and rich colour. Construction typically includes hand-carved fluting or reeding on the central stem, dovetail joinery for the tripod block, and cast brass toe caps or paw feet with brass castors.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-sawn underside timber, original brass catch mechanisms or catch blocks, and age-consistent wear to the tripod joints. Inspect the leg joints for hand-cut joinery and ensure the brass castors exhibit historical oxidisation rather than uniform modern finishes.

Position this table beside an armchair as an occasional drink surface or in an entrance foyer to hold a table lamp and ceramics. Its classic proportions allow it to contrast effectively against modern minimalist seating or complement traditional period schemes.

Preserve the original timber finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish degradation.
