Antique Engraved Heart Padlock Fancy Curb 9ct Gold Bracelet 7"

Description

This quality antique curb bracelet is completed with a unique heart padlock fastening that is intialled on the reverse, reading 'AR' and is modelled in 9ct gold, dating back to the Victorian era.

This bracelet is all original and displays very pretty embossed links at intervals around the chain.

Padlock bracelets became popular during the Victorian period, they were worn by women whose significant others were leaving for an extended period of time. The bracelet would be locked onto the woman’s wrist by the padlock charm, to which only her beloved would have the key- he would then open it upon his return.

This bracelet is a beautiful example of this style, which is in excellent antique condition.
