Description

A fine Japanese bronze okimono of a Tanuki, signed Shosai, Meiji Period. The raccoon dog, cast, seated, with his paw resting upon two ears of corn. His fur finely rendered, whilst his eyes are inlaid in gold.

Bearing an excellent patination.

Signed Shosai within a rectangular seal to the underside.

Length – 16 cm, 6 1/4”.

Height – 14 cm, 5 1/2”.

Depth – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No repair.
