Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian foldover card table is a nineteenth-century piece of furniture featuring a hinged top that rotates and unfolds to create a larger surface intended for card and parlour games. When folded closed, it functions as a compact console or side table.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, often incorporating decorative wood veneers. The interior playing surface was typically lined with wool felt or baize, fitted with brass hinges and concealed storage compartments.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery within the internal compartment, original brass foldover hinges, authentic age patina, and heavy timber pedestals supported by quadform or tripod plinth bases.

Position the table folded closed against a wall as a console table in a hallway or living space. Pair it with contemporary ceramics, a modern table lamp, or framed artwork positioned directly above.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply high-grade beeswax along the grain periodically. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer movement and wood shrinkage.
