Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency card tables, produced roughly between 1811 and 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, clean geometric lines, and rich wood veneers such as mahogany or rosewood. They frequently feature folding tops that swivel or flip open to reveal a baize-lined playing surface, serving a dual purpose as console tables when closed.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or oak for the core frame, covered with high-quality flame mahogany or rosewood veneers. The interior playing surface traditionally featured green wool baize, while brass was commonly used for hinges, castors, and decorative inlaid stringing.

Authentic Regency pieces show signs of hand craftsmanship, including hand-cut dovetail joints on internal frame components, original brass fold-over hinges, and hand-planed timber undersides. Look for age-appropriate wear, natural shrinkage in timber joints, and authentic patination on the original mahogany surface.

When closed, a card table functions effectively as a hall console or side table positioned against a wall or behind a sofa. Styled with a modern table lamp, artwork, or ceramics, it provides a tailored historic accent that contrasts well with contemporary furnishings.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, warping, or fading of the timber finish.
