Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Windsor chair is characterised by a solid wooden seat into which the chair legs and back spindles are secured using joinery, rather than continuing from the back legs. Originating in the early 18th century, these chairs frequently incorporate steam-bent hoops, turned legs, and decorative back splats.

Windsor chairs were often constructed using regional English hardwoods. Elm was commonly selected for the shaped seat due to its cross-grained strength, ash was utilised for steam-bent hoops and spindles, and yew or fruitwoods were employed for decorative splats and turned elements.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved or hand-turned components, subtle asymmetry, wedge joinery visible on the top of the seat or back rail, and natural wear patterns consistent with age. Splats from this period frequently display distinct geometric or heart-shaped piercings.

A single Windsor chair functions effectively as an accent piece in a modern hallway, bedroom corner, or alongside a contemporary desk. The rich tone of historic timber provides visual contrast against plain walls and minimalist architectural features.

Maintain wood furniture by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage or timber bleaching. Dust regularly with a clean, dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to preserve the timber finish.
