Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also known as a tallboy, is a historic storage piece comprising two stacked chests of drawers. Originating in the 18th century, this design provided expanded vertical storage while keeping overall floor space requirements minimal.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid native hardwoods such as oak, elm, walnut, or mahogany. Secondary drawer linings were frequently made of pine or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and original cast brass drop handles.

Authentic examples feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed back panels, and clear evidence of separate upper and lower carcases. Look for natural shrinkage gaps in drawer bases and original lock mechanisms or period brass hardware.

A tallboy functions as a commanding focal point in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. Pair its warm wooden tones with modern textured linen fabrics, contemporary artwork, or neutral walls to balance its visual weight.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent wood movement, warping, or cracking.
