Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George V silverware, produced between 1910 and 1936, often combines classic Neoclassical forms with early Art Deco influences. Items from this era bear official British hallmarks indicating metal purity, the assay town, the maker mark, and a specific date letter.

British sterling silver candlesticks were crafted using an alloy containing 92.5 percent pure silver combined with copper for strength. Stems were cast or raised from sheet silver, while bases were often loaded with pitch or resin to provide balance and prevent tipping.

Authentic Sheffield sterling silver features stamped marks including the lion passant for sterling purity, the crown symbol representing the Sheffield Assay Office, a maker mark, and a date letter. Inspecting these stamps under magnification confirms origin and exact production date.

Position silver candlesticks as a focal arrangement on a dining table or arrange them symmetrically on a sideboard or mantelpiece. Pairing polished silver accents with natural linen fabrics and tall wax tapers adds structure to contemporary table settings.

Maintain silver by applying a specialised, non-abrasive polish with a soft cotton cloth to gently lift tarnish. Avoid submerging weighted bases in water to protect internal materials, and store pieces in tarnish-inhibiting cloth bags between uses.
