Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the early reign of King George V, silver candlesticks from this period often draw inspiration from Neo-Classical and Georgian designs. They feature clean geometric lines, faceted stems, and stepped hexagonal or octagonal bases.

Antique silver candlesticks are struck from sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural rigidity. The hollow bases are frequently weighted or filled with resin to lower the centre of gravity and increase stability.

Authentic British sterling silver features a standardised set of hallmarks stamped into the metal. These include the lion passant for sterling quality, a town mark indicating the assay office, a maker mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to 1912.

Place silver candlesticks as a balanced pair on a sideboard, dining table, or mantelpiece to introduce metallic reflective accents. Pair them with neutral taper candles to complement contemporary minimalist or traditional decor schemes.

Clean silver candlesticks using a specialized silver polishing cloth or a mild silver foam to remove tarnish. Avoid abrasive metal cleaners, submerging weighted bases in water, or allowing molten candle wax to build up on the sconces.
