1920s Horos Pocket Watch and Chain

1900 - 1920
Description

1920s Horos pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Horos, a brand name registered at least three times by different German companies.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in good condition with just minor surface marks, nothing too serious at all.

The glass lens has light marking but again, not too serious.

The dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single chain, 34cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Open-face pocket watches from the 1920s feature a dial exposed directly beneath a clear crystal without a protective metal cover. They often incorporate Art Deco typography, clean Arabic numerals, and streamlined mechanical cases designed for daily wear.

Pocket watches from this period commonly utilised nickel, silver, gold plate, or rolled gold for the casing, paired with enamel or metal dials and hardened mineral glass crystals.

Authentic pieces generally display manufacturer stamps or serial numbers inside the case back, mechanical hand-wound movements, crisp enamel dial work, and correct period hallmarks or maker marks.

A pocket watch can be displayed on a dedicated watch stand, placed inside a glass cloche on a desk, or styled alongside leather-bound books on a bookshelf.

Store the timepiece in a dry environment away from strong magnetic fields. Mechanical movements should be wound gently without forcing the crown and serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
