1940s Silver Bravingtons Renown Pocket Watch

1940s silver Bravingtons Renown pocket watch.

The watch has a 17 jewel stem-winding movement, believed to be by Buren, which is working nicely. Bravington used various movement manufacturers and case makers to create watches under their own name with the Renown brand name being registered in 1935.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a 1948 long service inscription from Imperial Chemicals.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1942, with a case maker’s mark for the English case maker Aaron Dennison, a prolific manufacturer and supplier to various watch makers and jewellers. The case is in good condition, light marking but nothing serious.

The glass lens has light marking but is very acceptable.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
