LVS Decorative Arts has dated this French Kingwood Display Cabinet to the 1870s.
This display cabinet consists of a quarter Kingwood veneered top with ormolu moulding leading down to an inverted Kingwood cornice with egg and dart ormolu moulding below with foliate ormolu mounts to the front corners.

This leads down to two glazed doors with original ripple glass, each door consisting of superb quarter Kingwood veneers with elegant shaped ormolu moulding with foliate design to the top corners, with decorative ormolu escutcheon with working lock and key.

To either side of the doors the cabinet having Kingwood rounded corners with ormolu foliate mounts above and below, the sides of the cabinet consisting of quarter Kingwood veneered panels within an ormolu moulding with outer Kingwood crossbanded edge.

This leads down to an ormolu moulding with a Kingwood shaped frieze with central foliate ormolu mount and ormolu sabots to the shaped front legs with shaped legs to rear.
This display cabinet is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home – an ideal cabinet to display treasured possessions and/or collections.
