London City Antiques has dated these Regency Mahogany Dining Chairs to the 19th Century.

The chairs are crafted in richly figured mahogany with a warm deep tone and excellent colour throughout. The shaped top rails and curved back supports are refined and well proportioned showing the restrained elegance typical of the Regency period.

Raised on sabre legs the frames are both strong and graceful, designed to give stability without heaviness. The seats are generously proportioned and upholstered in a high quality striped fabric in rich red and gold tones which complements the warmth of the mahogany and gives a smart traditional look.

In their time these chairs would have been used in a formal dining room with the carvers reserved for the host and hostess. Today they remain highly versatile, equally suited to both classic interiors and more contemporary settings where period character is desired.
