Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian mahogany double wardrobes typically feature substantial proportions, classical architectural mouldings, and two full-length panelled doors. Produced during the nineteenth century, these freestanding cabinets often incorporate flame mahogany veneers, carved door crests, and heavy plinth bases to provide generous clothing storage.

Craftsmen constructed these wardrobes using hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber carcasses, and high-quality flame mahogany veneers laid over stable base woods. High-end period examples often feature traditional mortise-and-tenon frame joinery alongside brass locks, hinges, and hanging rails.

Authentic pieces display hand-planed timber surfaces on cabinet backs, uneven dovetail joints on internal drawers, and genuine patination on original brass hardware. The presence of natural timber shrinkage, historic maker labels, and traditional french polish finishes further confirms nineteenth-century origin.

A dark mahogany wardrobe provides a grounding focal point when positioned against contemporary neutral plaster walls or muted paint palettes. Balance its visual weight by pairing it with streamlined contemporary lighting, soft woven textiles, and modern minimalist artwork.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly using a soft dry microfibre cloth, following the direction of the wood grain. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct placement near heat radiators.
