Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in Britain during the late nineteenth century as a response to industrial mass production. It emphasized hand-craftsmanship, natural materials, honest joinery, and stylized natural motifs, creating functional furniture that highlighted the inherent figure of timber.

Makers during this period primarily utilized solid timbers such as oak, mahogany, and walnut. Construction involved traditional cabinetmaking techniques including hand-carved decorative relief panels, hand-cut dovetail joints, and solid brass or copper ironmongery.

Authentic pieces exhibit visible joinery, hand-carved or repousse metal panels featuring stylized botanical motifs, and well-proportioned, functional forms. Look for period-appropriate timber grain, original lock mechanisms, and evidence of hand construction rather than machine production.

A slim hall robe functions as refined outerwear storage in an entryway or vestibule without encroaching on floor space. Alternatively, it serves as a compact linen press or secondary wardrobe in a bedroom, where rich timber tones contrast against modern neutral walls.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth along the direction of the timber grain. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood, avoiding synthetic sprays and direct exposure to radiators or direct sunlight to prevent drying and fading.
