M Lees and Sons has dated this George IV Mahogany Writing Table to the 19th Century.
Raised on elegant reeded and turned tapering supports fitted with brass cup castors and wheels.
.The corners of the table base with panelled reserve tablets , the whole frieze with reeded mouldings.

The rectangular top having a reeded edge and to the rear centre fitted with a hinged pen and inkwell compartment. Of freestanding form , the verso with ‘cock-beaded’ mouldings to correspond with the drawer at the front of the table , the ends also with ‘cock-beaded’ reserves . Minor shrinkage crack to one end of the top .

A variation of the well-known Gillows of Lancaster ‘chamber table’ design, probably produced by high-class cabinet-making firm following the format .
In excellent original condition, the figured mahogany top having some historic marks and stains commensurate with age, use and purpose. Retains the original surface , polish and ‘skin’ with a pleasing colour and patina.
