Regency dressing table mirrors, often termed toilet mirrors, produced between 1811 and 1830, typically feature neoclassically inspired elements such as reeded columns, turned finials, and mahogany veneers. They consist of an adjustable swivelling mirror frame mounted onto a low plateau base housing small drawers.

These mirrors were primarily constructed using dense hardwoods such as Cuban or West Indian mahogany, combined with secondary woods like pine or oak for interior drawer linings. Hardware typically consisted of brass thumbscrews for the swivel mechanism, alongside turned timber, bone, or brass drawer knobs.

Authentic Regency mirrors display period construction signs, including hand-cut dovetail joints on the base drawers, hand-planed backboards, and natural surface patination on the mahogany. Original glass plates often exhibit minor silvering degradation or light pitting consistent with age.

A tabletop dressing mirror can be placed atop a contemporary chest of drawers, a hallway console, or a bathroom sideboard to introduce warm timber tones and historical contrast. Pairing the dark mahogany with neutral wall surfaces highlights the architectural lines of the reeded columns.

Clean the wooden surfaces using a soft cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to preserve the wood finish. Avoid harsh chemical sprays on the mirror glass to prevent liquid from seeping behind the frame and damaging the silver backing.
