Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Air twist glass refers to 18th-century British stemware crafted with internal decorative air spirals embedded within the glass stem. Popularised during the Georgian era, these items were created by manipulating drawn air pockets before twisting the molten glass.

Georgian stemware was primarily crafted from heavy lead crystal glass, often called flint glass. This formula provided high clarity, brilliant refractive qualities, and a resonant sound when tapped.

Authentic pieces usually feature a rough or polished pontil mark on the underside of the conical foot, slight asymmetry from hand-drawing, natural greyish tones in lead glass, and microscopic age-related wear on the rim and base.

Display these delicate glass items inside a lit display cabinet or on a sideboard where directional spotlighting can illuminate the internal spiral details within the stem structure.

Wash by hand using lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth to prevent thermal shock. Avoid dishwashers, harsh chemicals, and abrasive sponges that could scratch the surface.
