Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Grand Tour bronze reduction is a scale replica of an iconic classical statue, produced primarily in Italy during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as souvenirs for wealthy European travellers completing the Grand Tour.

These sculptures were typically cast in solid or hollow bronze using the lost-wax (cire perdue) process, followed by hand-chasing to refine details and the application of chemical patinas to achieve dark brown or green surface tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-chased fine details, natural age-related patina, evidence of traditional casting seams or core-plugging, and a substantial weight relative to modern alloy cast reproductions.

A classical bronze sculpture can be styled on a mantlepiece, bookshelf, or side table alongside contemporary art and minimalist furniture to create an eclectic contrast between antique forms and modern lines.

Clean patinated bronze by dusting gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft brush, and apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax annually to protect the surface finish from moisture and oxidisation.
