Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets, produced between 1901 and 1910, frequently draw inspiration from 18th-century Hepplewhite and Sheraton styles. They are characterised by slender mahogany frames, delicate satinwood or boxwood stringing, and expansive glass panels designed to showcase collectables.

These cabinets were constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, accented with contrasting satinwood inlays. The glazed doors feature fine wood astragal bars housing clear glass, while the interior shelves were commonly lined with silk, linen, or velvet fabric.

Authentic pieces feature precise hand-cut joinery, thin timber glazing bars, and original brass lock mechanisms or drop handles. Unfinished or lightly aged timber on the backboards and underside of the cabinet further indicates period construction.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight the rich timber grain and detailed inlay work. Curate the interior shelves with a mix of modern ceramics, sculptural objects, or leather-bound books to create a balanced contrast between traditional and contemporary design elements.

Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and radiators to protect the timber inlay and prevent veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to preserve the original finish.
