M-6671

.

Dimensions:

Height – 151cm/ Width - 76cm/ Depth - 29.5cm

.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches to the frame (pictured), but very minimal, also minor staining to the interior shelves. The antique display cabinet remains structurally solid and sound, with the glass intact. There is a split to the timber on the top of the piece, likely age related shrinkage to the wood and is not structural. Overall, a good example of an Edwardian glass display cabinet.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets, dating from roughly 1901 to 1910, often drew inspiration from 18th-century Neoclassical designs such as Sheraton and Hepplewhite. Characterised by lighter proportions than Victorian furniture, they frequently feature dark mahogany framing, delicate satinwood marquetry swags, and elegant astragal glazing bars.

Cabinet makers during the Edwardian era predominantly utilised solid and veneered mahogany, frequently decorated with satinwood or boxwood inlays. Glass panels and brass hardware, such as original hinges and drop handles, were standard components.

Authentic Edwardian pieces often exhibit fine craftsmanship, including hand-cut dovetail joints, smooth-running original locks, and light-toned inlay details against darker primary woods. Glass panels may display slight imperfections or waviness consistent with period hand-blown or sheet glass production.

An antique glazed cabinet can serve as a focal point in contemporary dining rooms, hallways, or living spaces. Modern styling involves displaying curated collections of contemporary ceramics, neutral books, or glassware inside to create contrast against rich timber tones.

Dust mahogany surfaces regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding silicone-based sprays. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the wood grain, and clean glass panels using a mild glass cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than the wood.
