Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian Renaissance Revival furniture is distinguished by heavy architectural forms, prominent panel moulding, and detailed relief carvings of foliage, scrolls, or heraldic imagery. Crafted predominantly from solid oak or walnut, these pieces reflect a 19th-century return to classical and 16th-century European design motifs.

Late Victorian sideboards were constructed using hand-cut or early machine-dovetailed drawer joints, solid oak drawer linings, and hand-carved relief panels. High-end makers like Maple & Co utilized timber frame-and-panel construction to accommodate wood movement, alongside cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces by Maple & Co frequently feature stamped makers marks or brass ribbons placed inside upper drawer edges or on cabinet door rims. Key indicators include high-grade timber selection, precise hand-carved panels, and smooth dovetail drawer construction.

A Victorian oak buffet creates visual depth in modern schemes when paired with neutral wall palettes and minimalist decor. Incorporating contemporary table lamps or streamlined ceramics atop the server anchors the traditional woodwork while maintaining a balanced aesthetic.

Maintain antique oak by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth along the grain and into carving recesses. Apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly to protect the timber finish, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct exposure to radiators.
