Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne bureau bookcase is a two-tier piece of 18th-century case furniture featuring a slant-front writing desk beneath a glazed or mirrored upper cabinet. Originating in early 18th-century Britain, these pieces typically exhibit balanced proportions, figured walnut veneers, and bracket feet.

These pieces are predominantly constructed using timber carcases veneered in highly figured burr walnut or feather-banded walnut. The hardware traditionally consists of cast brass drop handles, engraved escutcheons, and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic period pieces show period-accurate construction techniques, including hand-sawn secondary timbers, thick hand-cut veneers, and original brass fittings secured with square nuts. Mirror plates often display historic mercury silvering degradation and natural wear.

Pair the warm wood tones with contemporary neutral wall shades such as warm taupe or soft chalk white to create a focused visual anchor. Display minimalist ceramics or leather-bound volumes inside the upper cabinet to balance historic craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

Keep the item positioned away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer movement or cracking. Clean surfaces with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically to protect the original finish.
