Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A secretaire bookcase is a two-part furniture item combining an upper glazed display cabinet or bookcase with a lower cupboard containing an integrated pull-out or fold-down writing desk drawer.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, featuring glass panes for the upper doors and cast brass hardware for handles and drawer locks.

Authentic late Victorian examples feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass hardware, period glass with slight surface variations, and interior desk compartments fitted with small drawers and pigeonholes.

Position the piece against a plain or richly decorated wall to highlight the walnut grain, using the upper display shelves for curated glassware or books while utilizing the lower section for concealed storage.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading, clean the glass with a dry microfibre cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the surface finish.
