London City Antiques has dated these Victorian Mahogany Dining Chairs to the 1880s.
The carvers have attractive shaped arms with a refined scroll finish, giving the set a more formal head-of-table presence.

Raised on square tapering legs with stretchers, the frames are solid and well constructed. The chairs have been newly upholstered in a warm gold patterned fabric which works nicely against the rich mahogany colour and gives a clean ready-to-use finish.

These chairs were originally made for formal dining rooms in larger homes where comfort and symmetry were important. The inclusion of carvers allowed the host and guest of honour a more distinguished seat, a detail still appreciated today.

Condition
Very good antique condition with solid frames and no movement. Minor age related marks to the wood as expected. Upholstery is clean and fresh.
