Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced in Britain between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture represents the stylistic bridge between Regency restraint and Victorian embellishment. Chairs from this era typically feature curved balloon or curved top rails, carved horizontal mid-rails, and substantial turned or fluted front legs.

Dense West Indian or South American mahogany was the predominant timber choice due to its rich grain and structural stability. Frames were constructed using mortise and tenon joinery, whilst seats were padded with natural materials such as horsehair and webbed with linen.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of hand-carving along the rail, natural colour variation from age, and original frame joinery. Genuine mahogany of this period possesses a noticeable weight and deep patination that synthetic finishes cannot accurately replicate.

Pairing dark mahogany chairs with contemporary minimalist dining tables creates a striking textural contrast. Reupholstering the seat cushions in modern linen or boucle fabrics can soften historical frames to suit modern neutral interiors.

Apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly along the grain to preserve the timber finish and prevent drying out. Keep chairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the wood from warping or fading.
