Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency bowfront chest of drawers is a storage piece dating from the early nineteenth century, characterised by a gentle convex curved front. This design was favoured during the Regency period for its ability to soften room angles and highlight fine veneers like flame mahogany.

Chests from this era were typically framed in solid pine or oak and finished with high-quality timber veneers, such as mahogany. Drawers featured hand-cut dovetail joints, brass hardware including octagonal or oval plate handles, and solid timber backboards.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetails on drawer linings, uneven hand-planed back panels, and natural oxidisation on drawer bottoms. Look for genuine period drawer runners showing realistic wear and original brass escutcheons or handles.

A mahogany bowfront chest works well as a focal piece in an entryway or bedroom. Pair the dark polished wood with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or neutral walls to contrast its classic silhouette against modern textures.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timbers lustre. Avoid direct sunlight, extreme temperature changes, and harsh chemical cleaners to protect the delicate original veneer.
