Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, a bowfront chest of drawers features a convex curved front profile. This design allowed furniture makers to maximize internal storage capacity while visually softening the architectural footprint within a room.

Craftsmen typically utilised mahogany, frequently applying highly figured flame mahogany veneers over a pine or oak carcass. Drawer construction featured hand-cut dovetail joints, stringing inlay borders, and cast or stamped brass hardware.

Genuine period pieces exhibit signs of hand tools, including irregular dovetail joints, hand-sawn secondary timber on drawer bottoms, and natural shrinkage along timber panels. Hardware typically shows slight hand-crafted variations and natural historical patination.

Position the piece against a neutral wall to highlight the rich wood grain and inlay work. Pair it with a modern mirror or contemporary artwork mounted above, and style the top surface with minimal decorative objects to maintain balance.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying beeswax occasionally along the grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, central heating vents, or damp conditions to prevent veneer lifting.
