Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian dining chairs, produced between 1901 and 1910, are characterized by lighter proportions than Victorian furniture, often drawing inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. They frequently feature slender mahogany frames, fine satinwood or boxwood stringing, and simple geometric lines.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and rosewood, accented with decorative wood veneers such as satinwood for inlay work. Seats were traditionally stuffed with horsehair and covered in woven fabrics, leather, or tapestry.

Authentic pieces display traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, natural patination on timber surfaces, and precise hand-inlaid stringing around the top rails or splats.

These chairs can be integrated into contemporary spaces by pairing their warm mahogany frames with neutral or textured upholstery fabric, placing them around a minimalist wood table or modern stone dining table to create visual contrast.

Maintain timber surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish along the grain once or twice a year. Keep the chairs away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent wood shrinkage or cracking.
