Mahogany Regency Revival Dining Table

1900 - 1920
Description

A Regency Revival Mahogany Extending Dining Table

Of elegant and generous proportions, this Regency Revival mahogany dining table is raised upon twin pedestal supports, each formed as a finely turned column issuing into three swept legs terminating in brass claw castors, allowing for ease of movement and flexibility.

The table extends by way of a pull-out action to accommodate up to two additional leaves, secured in place by traditional Regency-style brass clips. The top is finished with crisply defined double reeded mouldings, enhancing its refined classical character.

Combining practicality with timeless design, the table is well suited for formal dining and will comfortably seat between ten and twelve guests when fully extended.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency Revival furniture reinterpret early nineteenth-century English design elements, such as twin or triple pedestal bases, reeded column turnings, splayed legs, and high-gloss mahogany finishes.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary hardwoods, fitted with cast brass castor caps and brass leaf clips or sliders.

Original Regency pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetails, secondary wood wear consistent with two centuries of age, and hand-forged hardware, whereas Revival items from the late nineteenth or twentieth century feature modern saw marks and uniform extension mechanisms.

Balance the dark mahogany tones by pairing the table with upholstered contemporary dining chairs, neutral wall palettes, and modern lighting fixtures like mid-century chandeliers.

Regularly dust the timber with a soft microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, and use protective mats to prevent heat rings and moisture marks.
