London City Antiques has dated this Regency Tilt Top Table to the 19th Century.
It is finished with a moulded edge and deep frieze, while the practical tilt-top mechanism allows the top to be raised vertically when not in use.

The table is supported by a substantial shaped pedestal above a gadrooned collar and unusual concave-sided triform platform base. Three bold scrolling legs extend from the platform, each terminating in a rounded scroll foot fitted with a brass castor.

The small gilt metal decorations applied to the scrolling sections are brass flowerhead paterae, also described as floral rosettes. These decorative mounts are typical of the Regency taste for restrained classical ornament.

A handsome and versatile antique table suitable for use as a six-seater dining table, breakfast table or impressive centre table.
