In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian toilet mirror, also termed a toilet glass or box mirror, is a freestanding tabletop mirror designed in the 18th or early 19th century. It typically features a tilting mirror frame mounted above a low wooden base incorporating small drawers for personal grooming items.

These mirrors were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, often adorned with crossbanded veneers and stringing. Secondary timber such as pine or oak was utilised for drawer linings, complemented by bone, brass, or ivory drawer knobs and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut dovetail joints on the base drawers, hand-planed secondary woods, and original silvered mirror glass which may exhibit subtle oxidisation. Look for period details such as serpentine or bow fronts, brass side turnings, and inlaid escutcheons.

Place the piece atop a bedroom chest of drawers, side table, or hallway console to serve as a functional vanity mirror. Its dark timber and classic silhouetted curves provide textural contrast when set against modern neutral painted walls.

Dust the wood gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax periodically to maintain the timber finish. Clean the mirror plate with a lightly dampened cloth, ensuring moisture does not seep into the wooden frame or behind the mirror silvering.
