Designed to sit atop a chest of drawers or dressing table, these pieces typically feature an adjustable swivelling glass mounted above a wooden box base containing small drawers for cosmetics and jewellery.

These mirrors were primarily constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, frequently utilizing oak or pine as secondary internal woods. Drawer construction features hand-cut dovetail joints, while the mirror plate was originally silvered using a mercury process, framed by shaped timber supports.
