Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Karaja rugs originate from the village of Karaja in Northwest Persia, near the Heriz region. They are distinguished by their bold geometric designs, typically featuring a central latch-hook medallion flanked by two star-shaped motifs on an indigo or red field.

Traditional Karaja carpets are hand-knotted using a durable wool pile woven onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. The wool is dyed using vegetable and plant-based dyes, producing deep shades of indigo blue, terracotta red, pink, and teal.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-bound selvedges, slight colour variations known as abrash, and a clear geometric pattern visible on the reverse side. The specific layout of three primary central medallions is a signature marker of Karaja weaving.

The rich indigo and terracotta tones of a tribal rug contrast well against light oak flooring, neutral linen upholstery, or dark leather furniture. Place the rug in an entryway, living room, or study to introduce texture and visual weight.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting to avoid damaging the wool fibres with a beater bar. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth, rotate the rug annually to ensure even wear, and use a suitable rug underlay.
